Lance Stroll will race in Bahrain, after a wrist injury caused by a bike accident earlier in the year, as confirmed by the team.
Aston Martin have confirmed that Lance Stroll will be racing in Bahrain after injuring his wrists in a bike accident. Due to his injuries, he had to sit out pre-season testing, with F2 champion and AMR reserve driver Felipe Drugovich racking up miles in the all-new AMR23.
Lance Stroll said:
"It was frustrating not to be out in Bahrain for the pre-season test and I was disappointed to miss the three days of running. However, given the injury to my wrist, the team and I felt it was best to focus on recovery so that I would be ready for this weekend and the long season ahead - I've been working hard with my team to ensure that I am fully fit to compete this weekend."
Aston Martin is looking to be a midfield contender at the season opener this weekend, after a successful test that showed a large improvement in lap times from last year's Bahrain GP weekend. Many fans and even media believe that the AMR23 will be the 4th fastest car on the grid, beating out McLaren and Alpine; some are even suggesting that they will be on the coattails of Mercedes come qualifying after the Brackley-based team failed to show progress as promised following the disappointing 2022 season.
