Andretti X Cadillac in F1; wait, what?!

Updated: Jul 20, 2023

Andretti and Cadillac (with backing from General Motors) have announced a partnership to compete in Formula 1.

Andretti Autosport - an all-American team competing in Indycar - have been attempting to join the pinnacle of motorsport for a while, being openly public about their intents. However, this had no real progress in joining the grid, with F1 saying that they weren't interested, or indeed making limited comments on the whole situation. F1 are reportedly more interested in getting more manufacturers into F1; the FIA presumably worried that, with limited budget, they would become another backmarker, following HAAS.

To reply to FOM's want, Andretti Global joined forces with GM, namely Cadillac. The brand has been very active in endurance racing in IMSA with success. With this large financial backing, Andretti have a much higher chance of joining the grid come '25.

Are you hoping that this backing will push Andretti further towards an F1 entrance;

for now, at least, watch this space...
