Mick Schumacher had been under pressure to perform in the final few races of the 2022 championship, however his efforts sadly didn't seal his 2023 contract with Haas.
The twenty three year old has been scrutinised over the season for his large crashes, such as Jeddah or Monaco. In order to secure a 2023 contract with the US team, a target of securing points was set. However, the pace of the Haas has arguably not been points scoring pace and whenever he has been in a position to get a top ten finish, Haas' strategy often meant he ends up in the lower end of the grid
Nico Hulkenberg, the man replacing Schumacher, has been out of the sport for a couple of years, although has stood in multiple times for drivers that cannot compete, such as Seb Vettel at the start of this season, or Lance Stroll in 2020 Silverstone qualifying. He is known to be a solid pair of hands in a lower midfield car, even if he does not contain the 'minerals' needed for a podium or indeed an elusive win.
What is your opinion on Haas' decision? Do you think MC47 will do an Esteban Ocon and come back in 2024, similar to Riccardo's aims, or is he not good enough for F1?
