Controversy amidst Verstappen vs Perez at Interlagos

Updated: Nov 15, 2022

As we all already know, Max Verstappen has dominated this year. He won the championship way back in Suzuka, however teammate Sergio Perez has had more struggles in the 2022 season.

Perez is fighting Leclerc for second in the drivers championship, and with Max being in front of Perez in the closing stages at Brazil, it made sense to swap the pairing. However, after been asked to slow down for Checo, Max refused.

"I told you already last summer... the guys don't ask that [to swap positions] again" - Verstappen

Perez was obviously furious after this apparent arrogance from the Dutchman, especially after how much Checo did to secure Verstappen's championships in both 2021 and 2022.

"Yeah, it shows you who he really is" - Perez

Information has also arisen that Sergio crashed on purpose in the 2022 Monaco GP (and told both Christian Horner and Max) in order to keep his third qualifying spot, and therefore this is what Max was referencing in his spicy quotes in the post-race interviews.

Do you think that all of this drama was needed for a gain of just two points? Let's us know below!
